This institution was established in the tribal belt of eastern region of Odisha in the district of Balasore. This college is a full-fledged college having both +2 & +3 streams in Arts, Science & Commerce. It is situated in the Ex-princely state of Nilgiri which merged first into Indian Union on 14th November 1947. It is one of the leading colleges of Odisha and is 20 K.M. west of the headquarter of Balasore District and is well connected to NH-5.
This Nilgiri College is a seat of higher learning, located in the Sub-divisional head-quarter of Nilgiri This College is named after the place, Nilgiri which etymologically symbolizes the Green Hill, named Swarnachuda which stands on the background of the place.
